Koinonia Youth Ministry (KYM) is aimed at forming and equipping our youth (6th-12th graders) for a lifetime of loving and following Jesus and belonging to His Church. To this end, we seek to emphasize four core areas of formation in KYM…

  • Communal Growth | A lifetime with Christ grows from learning and experiencing the gospel within the communion of the church–Christ’s body. In engaging the body of believers, we encourage the youth to ask questions of our faith, to wrestle with doubts, to process experiences, and to meditate on truth. We seek to intentionally make time and space for growing in our faith together

  • Redemptive Narratives | A lifetime with Christ grows from understanding how the stories of our lives find their perfect place within the Bible’s grand story of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration. Growing in our understanding of the mystery of this overarching story–to which Jesus is the key!--will enable our youth to gain a gospel-centered perspective on their own lives and the lives of those around them.

  • Cross-cultural Depth | A lifetime with Christ grows from a love for the unity in diversity of our global and historic covenant community. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a cross-cultural gospel, and so we will guide the youth in understanding their own culture and context, and in engaging with and loving our church and neighbors across different cultures and contexts.

  • Spiritual Maturity | A lifetime with Christ both grows from the habit of and produces Christ-likeness. Because of this, we will guide the youth in applying Christ’s life to and practicing the spiritual disciplines in their own personal lives. In this way, the youth will weekly be led through the practices of prayer, Scripture reading, and worship.

During the Fall and Spring semesters, KYM meets regularly from 3-5pm on Sundays in the church Fellowship Hall for our weekly Youth Group! We also have various other events throughout the year, including retreats, game/movie nights, and service days. If you have a 6th-12th grade student who is interested in joining, or if you have any questions/would like to learn more about KYM, please contact Joshua Putrasahan, our Director of Youth Ministry (josh@gracemosaic.org).
